Solid Surface
Just like the tiles, we had to choose our kitchen solid surface top. There were a lot to choose from, different brands, prices, design, colours etc. Initially we were offered the cheaper unknown brand ($70 per ft run). Good thing there are many forums and after doing some research at http://www.sengkang.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=724, we decided to go for a better brand, LG Hi-macs ($98 pfr). Selected GEMINI after some discussion. That's the one on the top left in the bottom picture.
LG Hi-macs gives 10 year limited warranty. Scratch, heat and stain resistant. Other cheaper brands may get stained in the long run which cannot be removed. Good thing we made the switch!

D.I.Y Painting
Done with our D.I.Y painting! Was told by Ah Low to only paint first coat but wth, we went on to paint the finishing coat as well as there's the good deal for paint! We got all our paint from HOME-FIX (http://www.home-fix.com/) as there was discount and 3M free gifts during the Great Spore Sale. $35 for 5L of Nippon Vinilex Classic, original price was $38.
Only 2 main colours for the living and Dining area. Our living area "white" is SHEER while the dining area is MOCHA GREY. See above photos. Can catch a glimpse of feature boxes for small ornaments at the dining area.

Got this information off the walls of HOME-FIX. Use this as a guide but most of all, follow instinct and trial & error.
Just search the net for some painting techniques & tips, get lots of hardware and we're ready to go. The initial work of preparing the surface is more "shiong" than the painting itself but essential. As many of you will be getting pple to do the painting so I shall skip this part.
Sneak peek of our master bedroom colours. Same colours as per living room as we liked this combination of colours a lot and bought a lot of the same colours. Makes buying paint simple too.
For our 2 other room, main colour is SHEER (save $$ again) with a suprise tint of SHEER LIME.
**At the time of post, door frames and doors were not painted yet.
